18 Graduands bags First Class in FUOYE maiden convocation

Eighteen  students will be graduating with first class honors as the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) holds its maiden convocation.

Professor Kayode Soremekun, who announced this at a press conference to herald the first convocation of the six-year-old institution.


Professor Soremekun said 504 graduates would receive first degrees during the ceremony, which is a combined 2014/15 and 2016/17 sets that would climax on Saturday.


According to him, for the 2014/15 set, 10 would receive first class degrees; 155 will receive second class upper while 134 will bag second class lower and 40 will go with third class.
He also announced that for the 2015/16 set, eight bagged first class; 69 bagged second class upper; 79 would graduate with second class lower while eight bagged third class with one pass graduate.
Soremekun lauded the first Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Chinedu Nebo and his successor, Professor Isaac Asuzu, for their efforts at laying a sound foundation for the university, saying FUOYE was now ranked 14 among 143 universities in Nigeria.
