Update From The Desk Of FuoyeSU Executive Elect

FROM THE DESK OF THE  STUDENTS' UNION EXECUTIVES ELECT

We appreciate you all for your calmness and confidence in us, since the news of the increase in the tuition fee broke out.

In respect to our previous posts, the University Management agreed to have a meeting with the executives, which took place on Wednesday December 6, at the Vice Chancellor's Office.
We discussed a lot of things in relations to the development of the institution.
But, on the issue of the Tuition fees, we asked to know:
1. The reason why the FUOYESU executives were not carried along before financial decisions were taken on our behalf.
2. Reason why the Tuition fees of only some faculties were increased.
3. Reason why the Students' Union due was attached to the Entrepreneur fee.

The V.C apologised for not carrying the Union executives along, and promised to always carry the union along in subsequent times.

He explained that the University is not well funded by the Federal Government and the University has been sustaining on internally generated funds, hence the increase in the acceptance fees.

Then he said the increase in the other faculties fees except for Science and Engineering faculty is that, there are new programs introduce and they have to pay for field trip included in the school fees.
There, *we disagreed, because not all department go on field trips, and after a long period of dialogue, the V.C said they will deliberate on it again before the end of the week and will invite us  for an update.*
*We promise to get the best bargain for members of the union.*

But we did not make any headway while bargaining on the fresh students fees, because the management hope to pay up debts and gets infrastructures ready with the fresh students fees.
*But, we hope and believe we can still get a good bargain on their behalf*

The Bursar was unavoidably absent, so we couldn't get the reason why the Students' Union due was merged with the entrepreneur fee.
*Note: The Students' Union due is and remain One thousand Naira(#1000)*

*Also Note: No student should pay the tuition fees, until we're called back and we agree to a well outlined breakdown of the school fees*
