Recent update from the desk of FUOYESU Executives for Oye Campus

It no longer news that the mid semester break announced on March 6th after the demonstration against exploitations in Oye community has being called off.
The school reopens Saturday 17th March and Academic activities resumes on Monday 19th March.

The demonstration has brought to us Victory over any form of exploitation in Oye.

MEETING WITH THE OLOYE
The King (HRH OLOYE of Oye Kingdom) called a meeting of the University administration, DSA executives of FUOYESU with the excecutives of Bike Association, The DPO, Civil Defence, Landlord Association, Community leaders, Youth leaders and Heads of other parastatas in Oye on 7th March, a day after the demonstration.

The Traditional ruler HRH with his chiefs expressed his disappointment after he heard from both parties.
The showed their displeasure at how the situation was handle before it degenerated to physical combat.
The King and his Chiefs made us realised that there were aware of the exploitations from both Landlords and Bikemen, but kept mute to see how we'll handle it, and he vowed to put a stop to it immediately.
He stated that the House rent prices will be monitored and will go down drastically from next session as little can be done about it now, because students has paid their rents.

The king also expressed his disappointment at the destruction and looting of OLOYE's  market, which he said is a taboo traditionally.
The union executives with the Dean of students affairs apologized for that.

THE RESOLUTION
Then a committee was established tagged "FUOYE COMMUNITY RELATED MATTERS COMMITTEE(FCRMC)which constitutes the King's right hand Chief, some FUOYESU executives, the D.P.O Oye police division, the NSCDC Head, SSS Head, The bike men general Chairman, Chairman NURTW, the DSA, Secretary to the VC, the Oye youth leader and Heads of various parastatas in Oye Community.

The FUOYESU executives explained the plans on ground to bring vehicles and eradicate the bikemen totally as that is what our students populace wants, but we were meant to see reasons why bike men cannot be totally   eradicated as most of our students lives off campus where even cabs can't get to, but can be controlled with stricter measures with the assistance of the 'Top guns' in the FCRMC

THE WAY FORWARD
The Good news is that Bikes will no longer have access to or ply within the University as we've reached agreements with cabs and shuttles that will be carrying students from town to inside the university(to any phase) and other cabs that will be on standby and will not leave inside the university thereby reducing the influence of Bike men to the minimum
The new agreed price list will be sent out soon, and on no account should any student pay more than what is stated on the list.

ON PAYMENT OF DAMAGES FEE
The University administration did not ask and will never ask the students to pay and fee for damages as the fight did not take place in the university and no university property was damaged.
The students(including the Vice President) suffered various degrees of bodily injuries and the University Health Centre was responsible for the treatment, also there are plans to compensate students who got injured in the incident.
We wish them quick recovery

May God in his infinite mercy provide and replenish all those who lost materially to the incident Amen.
