A Committee set up by the management of the Federal University Oye Ekiti for the establishment of Faculty of Law in the Institution has submitted its report. Receiving the report, the Vice Chancellor Professor Kayode Soremekun expressed delight over the Promptness of the Committee assuring that his administration will not waste time on the follow up programmes that will actualize the objective.
He said FUOYE was poised to giving quality affordable Law education to interested candidates across Nigeria and even beyond. Vice
Chancellor who was visibly elated added he was moved especially by the
humility of the Chairman of the steering Committee, Professor Akintunde
Obilade, Emiratus of Professor, University of Lagos and a Harvard
alumnus. He further said with Professor Obilade’s wealth of experience
as well other committee members tract records, the planned faculty of
Law will be a unique one adding that the report will undergo both
internal and external processing so as to hasten the formulation of the
Law faculty.
In his remark, the steering Committee chairman, Emeritus Professor Akintunde Obilade said the Committee
imbibed the attributes of experience, common sense, good conscience,
truth, excellence and effectiveness to evolve the report. Akintunde
added that his Committee members were committed to the elevation of
human development through teaching, setting of goals as well as
realizing the goals. The academic luminary said though the report might
not be said to the perfect, he said was convinced that the Committee
members adhered strictly to the terms of reference given the committee.
Other
members of the Committee include Professor Ifedayo Timothy from Ekiti
State Univ ersity and Barrister Sesan Fabamise from Afe Babalola
University (external members). Others include Professor Ojo Bakare,
Professor Olusegun Oladimeji, Mrs Oyeyimika Koyejo Fasakin Acting
Registrar and secretary to the steering committee as well as Barrister
I. O Osadola (internal members) while Barrister Ayodeji Ige is the
Coordinator of the programme.
Held
in the office of the Vice Chancellor, the brief but colorful ceremony
was attended by the institution’s Principal Officers, Deans of faculties
as well as several other management staff.
